The annual Christmas function was held by the Lahore Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) on Thursday as the Christmas celebrations begin across the city.
The event began with a sermon by Lahore Cathedral Church of Resurrection Vicar Rev Shahid Miraj and followed by carol singing. Japan YMCA General Secretary Shaigeru Shimada was the chief guest at the occasion, while other notable guests included, Salim Bokhari, Mazhar Qayyum Khan, Waris Baig, Malik Razzak, Rev Emmanuel Khokar, Rev Rocky, Haroon Rehmat and Shumaila Asher Massey. Popular singer A Nayyar, after a hiatus of many years, presented his songs with Sajjad Taffu leading the orchestra. Sajjad Taffu’s son Mehtab gave a solo performance on mandolin, while Violinist Ghulam Ali Lahooti enthralled the audience with the compositions from his recently released instrumentals album. Pop singer Anand also performed on the occasion.
The highlight of the event was the arrival of Santa Claus, who distributed gifts among the children and the guests. Stalls of Henna and bangles were also set up on the occasion.
