Yet another book fair to kindle interest in reading

In times when book-reading has become an insipid and bygone idea, a book fair was recently launched in the city at the Grace Hall.
The fair, organised by Fareed Publishers and Bazme Farooghe Adab, was inaugurated by District Central Municipal Commissioner Nazir Lakhani and Intermediate Board Controller Imran Chishti.
Speaking on the occasion, renowned poet Naqqash Kazmi said that with the advancement in science, people prefer keeping things they can listen to while on a move, however, the values of books cannot be challenged.
Presenting the example of “Heer” by Waris Shah that continues to be a part of folk culture, Kazmi said that the love for literature and books is undying.
Chishti urged parents and teachers to encourage the habit of reading among children from a very early age. He also appreciated the efforts of the organisers of the event for offering discount on the books on sale.
Talking about the yearly book fair, the founder of Fareed Publishers, Fareed Hussain said that their Muharram book fair has entered into the fifth year of its launch whereas it has been 25 years that the group organises a book fair during the month of Ramazan.
The book fair that offers a collection from comic books to travelogues will continue till January 12.
