Commuters of twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad are anxiously waiting for compressed natural gas (CNG) buses, which the civic body has repeatedly announced to ply. There is no organised bus service operating between the twin cities and the level of service offered by the minibuses is far below any acceptable standard, so commuters have to rely on either two wheelers or other forms of private transport.
Commuters, especially students, employees of private and public sector departments coming from adjoining areas of the twin cities are facing problems due to shortage of public transport on different routes. There is no proper transport service in twin cities and commuters are compelled to travel in overloaded vans. A CDA official said that the civic body would ply 35 buses on Rawat-Islamabad route in the first phase aimed at providing luxurious travelling facilities to the passengers.
