‘Institutions stakeholders in transportation’

Lahore Transport Company (LTC) Chairman Khawaja Ahmed Hassan on Thursday constituted a committee to interact with the heads of educational institutions to identify the elements within the student community that disrupt public transport in the city.
The LTC chairman, while addressing a meeting convened to review the performance of LTC, said that the heads of educational institutions will be responsible for any incident of hooliganism by the students in their area. He said that the local police and the LTC enforcement staff will provide full security to the public transport operating in the city. The LTC chairman said that the LTC staff will continue to monitor the behaviour of students on various roads and report their observations on a daily basis. The committee members held a detailed meeting with the principals several colleges, including the Gulberg College for boys, Islamia College Civil Lines, Dayal Singh College, Punjab University and Superior College. The committee comprises of LTC Operations Senior Manager Tanveer Siddiqi, Planning and Operations Specialist Huma Daha and Operation Deputy Manager Ashan Shahzad. The committee is also developing various options for concessions in student fares, in consultation with the heads of educational institutions of Lahore. The LTC chairman will announce the student fare scheme shortly.
