The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed the Sindh Education Department secretary on Tuesday to appear before the court in person on January 11 on a contempt of court application.
The single bench of Justice Maqbool Baqar heard the contempt petition jointly filed by Afsah Naz and other teachers through Wahab Baloch advocate against the provincial education secretary.
The petitioners stated that till date none of the respondents have complied with the SHC’s orders on their earlier petition for issuance of their salaries since 2007.
The teachers submitted that since 2003 they have been teaching at a community-supported school in Ghulam Qadir Shar and Datar Dino villages in Faiz Gunj taluka, Khairpur district. On October 20, the SHC had directed the education secretary to submit his report on the petition. But despite court orders, the salaries of the teachers have still not been released by the Sindh Education Department.
