A painting exhibition of masterly paintings by renowned artist, Mashkoor Raza, kicked off here at the Nomad Art Gallery on Wednesday.
Creating transparency with parts of basic forms of squares circles and triangles on his canvas and abstract images of women and horses, Mashkoor shows versatility of handling his subject, paints and compositions. Using median of oil paintings, Mashkoor has created romantic scenes in his art by showing couple in peaceful environment. Mashkoor is an eminent artist and he creates aesthetics transparent impressions through which his images adopt varying shapes.
His exceptional energies combined with passion and patience bring forth canvases, papers and boards decorated with fuming horses and silent nudes on the one hand, and cool compositions with harmonious colours on the other. Although Mashkoor is loyal to his usual palette, occasionally he goes violent with his colours making full use of red. His colour sense, while handling spaces and compositions, has brought forth a breath of fresh air on the painting scene of Karachi. Mashkoor said; “I defines the space not through linear demarcation but through variations, creating shades in a given colour scheme.” The painter’s achievement of translucency, however, creates a kind of delicacy and highlights the poetic qualities of his work.
