As the number of people wishing to get their bills divided into instalments after the Fuel Price Adjustment debacle swells, Lahore Electric Supply Company staff has reportedly disappeared from majority of Customer Care offices in the city, leaving the consumers in shock and awe, Pakistan Today has learnt. The offices in most parts of the city are being left closed for the last few days, leaving the consumers with no choice but to protest against LESCO. The Customer Care offices of the LESCO in Johar Town, Township, Ghazi Road, Mustafabad, Shalimar and other areas remained closed for the consumers, while the staff also escaped to save itself from the wrath of the people. In Township LESCO office, the gates were closed by the administration and people were not entertained. As a result, people protested against the attitude of LESCO.
In Ghaziabad, the LESCO officials have not been coming to the offices for the last two days. “I have been coming to LESCO office for last two days to get my bill corrected but there is nobody here,” said Naseer Ahmed adding the LESCO staff is least bothered about the people’s problems. Another consumer Javed Yousaf said it has become impossible for people to pay such high utility bills and they were contacting the offices to get their bills divided into instalments but nobody was listening to them. “They should deposit the entire amount the FPA will not be deducted,” a LESCO spokesman said.
