Vegetable price show increase at Sunday bazaars

The prices of most of vegetables have gone up at the city’s Sunday bazaars as compared to the prices of last Sunday. The prices of tomatoes witnessed an increase of Rs 16 per kg on Sunday. This week tomatoes were sold at Rs 76 against the previous week’s rate when it was available for Rs 60. Similarly, the prices of ladyfinger also witnessed an increase of Rs 10 per kg. This week ladyfinger was sold at Rs 70 against the previous week’s rate of Rs 60 per kg. This Sunday, the prices of green chilli, bitter gourd, brinjal, black-paper, turnip, cauliflower and pumpkin witnessed a significant increase when compared to the last week’s prices. According to the official price lists, green chilli was sold at Rs 76, against the previous week’s rate—Rs 68 per kg. This week, bitter gourd was sold at Rs 50 per kg than the previous week’s rate of Rs 40.
The prices of other vegetables also witnessed an increase. This week, cucumber faced an increase of 4 per kg. This week cucumber was sold at Rs 40 against the last week’s rate of Rs 36. The prices of cauliflower and cabbage also witnessed an increase of Rs 6 each per kg. This week, cabbage was sold at Rs 36 and cauliflower was sold at Rs 30 per kg. The prices of brinjal and pumpkin also witnessed an increase of Rs 4 and 16 per kg respectively. This week, brinjal was sold at Rs 20 per kg and pumpkin was sold at Rs 40 per kg.
However, this week the prices potatoes, onion, garlic, ginger and chicken witnessed a slight decrease in their prices. According to rate lists, potatoes were sold at Rs 20 per kg, onion was sold at Rs 42, garlic-ganger at Rs 76 per kg while chicken was available at Rs 107 per kg.
Meanwhile, the prices of almost all fruits, except for pomegranate and guava, remained stable. This week the prices of pomegranate and guava witnessed a decrease of Rs 10 per kg each. Pomegranate was sold at Rs 150 per kg while Guava was sold at Rs 50 per kg.
