Race Course Police registered a case against a former Race Course SHO who fled from police custody a little while after being arrested. Former Race Course SHO Malik Taimur had been arrested from a local hotel in Old Anarkali along with 37 others including 17 girls and 20 boys.
Old Anarkali police had raided the hotel on tip off that a terrorist was staying there. However, during the raid, police found various couples in compromising position and arrested them. They also recovered liquor and drugs from the hotel.
The Old Anarkali SHO brought the arrested people to Race Course police station where a car hit him and Taimur escaped in it. Police registered case against the 37 people and the former SHO under sections 216 and 371/A-B while a separate case was registered against Taimur on complaint of Old Anarkali SHO Shahid Hussain. Race Course Investigation In charge Munawwar Dogar said the local court had sent 20 men to jail while accepting bail plea of 17 girls while Taimur was still at large.
Sources said Taimur managed to escape with help of Race Course police and a journalist friend of his. They said the hotel was a hub of such activities since a long time. Race Course SHO Waseem Akhtar was suspended over criminal negligence in performing his duty in a late night development.
found dead: A 50-year-old man was found dead in the Bhatti Gate police precincts, on Friday. The deceased man was discovered in a park by a passerby, who informed the local police. The police reached the spot and removed the body to the city morgue for an autopsy.
SUICIDE ATTEMPT: A woman attempted to commit suicide over an unknown reason in Sandha police precinct. The victim was identified as Tasleem, 25, a resident of Sannat Nagar. According to police, the victim set herself ablaze by sprinkling kerosene oil on herself. Her husband Raees, 30, was also injured while extinguishing the fire. The injured couple was rushed to a nearby hospital where the condition of Tasleem was stated to be critical.
Robbery: Robbers looted money and valuables from a 22-year-old man after giving him drugs in the Badami Bagh police precints. The victim was identified as Naveed, 22, a resident of Sialkot. He had come to Lahore for work when unidentified people gave him drugs and snatched his money and mobile phone.
Fire: Fire broke out in two separate incidents. In the first incident, fire broke out in the Hamza Hospital due to short circuiting and destroyed valuables worth thousands of rupees. Asif Raza’s godown on Ghazi Road, Punjab Society was destroyed after a fire broke out due to short circuiting.
injured: A man injured his wife after attacking her with a knife in the Green Town police precints. The injured woman, a mother of six children, is stated to be in critical condition in the hospital. According to details, Mahboob Shah, a resident of Green Town, is a security guard at local petrol pump and had separated from his wife Ghulam Kubra two years ago. The victim was with her daughter when Mehboob entered the house and attacked the sleeping Ghulam Kubra. On hearing the victim’s cries, people from the neighbourhood gathered at her place. They succeeded in capturing the assailant Mehboob and handed him over to the police. The man said he had attacked his wife for allegedly having illicit relations with other men.
Dead meat: Bhaati Gate Police registered a case against a butcher after arresting him on complaints by locals. According to details, Yaseen, a meat seller in Muhalla Jalotian in Bhaati Gate area allegedly sold the meat of dead animals. The residents of the area complained to the City District Government Food Department which, along with the police, raided the shop where they discovered dead animals’ meat.
