A Lahore-based organisation of eunuchs, after being permitted by the Supreme Court (SC) to enjoy all rights of citizens, on Friday decided to support the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the next general elections.
This was disclosed by Madam Neeli, guru of Anjumane Khawaja Sara while talking to journalists at her residence in Taxali Gate. She said that they had hundred of eunuchs as their members and although their organisation was not registered yet but eunuchs from different parts of Punjab were getting its membership. Neeli said that only in Lahore, more than 1,500 eunuchs had recently joined their organisation and supported their decision to support the PML-N. The eunuch leader said that they had planned to hold a meeting in the coming weeks for re-organisation of their body by expanding their network among other members of their community in Punjab. She said that the community was represented by different bodies, which was damaging their unity and well being due to divided leadership.
Neeli, appreciating the SC decision ordering NADRA to issue CNICs to eunuchs, said that the CJP had helped them out of misery and the PML-N will help them in implementation of the decision at NADRA and Election Commission of Pakistan for entry of their names in voter lists before the next general elections. Despite the SC order, NADRA had not completed the procedure for issuance of CNICs to eunuchs, especially in Lahore. But now the PML-N’s pressure and backing to eunuchs will do them what the CJP really wanted through the decision of giving all rights of a citizen to them and now it was hoped that NADRA will not turn a deaf ear to their rights, she said.
The eunuch leader, disclosing about the way of their help for the PML-N in the next general elections, said that they will not only convince their community to vote for the PML-N but also convince other citizens to do the same. She said that they will launch a door-to-door campaign to convince Lahoris and other citizens of the province, adding that they were also preparing some songs, which will be sung during the campaign.
Another important member of Anjamane Khawaja Sara, Lahore, Ashi claimed that a worker of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, Bhali Butt offered them to join the PTI but they refused because they believed that only the PML-N could bring a positive change in the country. She said that they had sent applications to Nawaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz to include them in their party but no answer had been received until now. Ashi disclosed that were also trying to get an advertisement published in any newspaper in support of the PML-N and it might help them in communicating their point of view to the PML-N leadership. She said that change in faces will not bring any change in the present situation but only agenda will bring a change.
