Punjab Governor Latif Khosa on Thursday summoned the 32nd Punjab Assembly (PA) session for December 12 (Monday) at 3pm.
PA Speaker Rana Iqbal will preside over the session to discuss law and order in the province. Sources claimed that the Punjab government would get approved the bill of extension of 180 days in local government (LG) elections, as the earlier deadline has passed. On the other hand, the opposition was finalising its strategy to grill the treasury over the Punjab government’s poor governance and deteriorating law and order for which opposition legislators submitted adjournment motions, call attention notices and privilege motions.
The session could continue for 33 days while according to rules, the PA has to complete 57 more days. It is expected that the session would continue for three weeks. Political analysts predicted that the session would be a stormy one, as President Asif Ali Zardari’s sudden departure for Dubai for health reasons and rumours about the federal government would create an interesting situation.
