High pressure CNG stations on the cards

The Lahore Transport Company is making all its efforts to ensure uninterrupted natural gas supply to the urban transport during the days of outages and that the company is working in a close liaison with the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL). This was stated by LTC Chairman Khwaja Hassan during a meeting of LTC Board of Directors here at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Thursday. He said the high pressure CNG stations would be setup in order to provide uninterrupted gas supply to the urban transport. He said that through a transparent process, the state land will be leased for setting up of these stations.
He said that private parties would be pre-qualified for up gradation of existing stations into high capacity CNG filling stations for urban transport buses in Lahore. He said the upgraded stations would directly fill buses and they would also be able to supply the CNG through their mobile units. He said that LTC would soon enter into the agreement with private parties for the provision of CNG. He said that Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project will be implemented on Ferozpur Road, Canal Road, Multan Road under a phased programme. He said some Turkish companies will shortly visit Lahore in order to enter an agreement with LTC for establishing BRT Project in the City. The LTC chairman also announced that around 575 buses would be available in Punjab by the last week of January next year. Out of these, he said, over 200 buses would be operate in Lahore and while the rest in Multan, Bhawalpur, Rawalpindi and other cities of Punjab.
