President Asif Ali Zardari left for Dubai on Tuesday evening to visit his children and also to undergo some medical tests.
He was accompanied with his physicians and limited personal staff.
According to the president’s personal physician Col. Salman, the proposed medical tests are of routine nature and are linked to a previously diagnosed cardiovascular condition.
Spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said that contrary to media reports, the president did not visit any hospital for tests or treatment. Instead the president held separate meetings in the Presidency with Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Chairman Senate Farooq Naek and Interior Minister Rehman Malik to review the overall situation, security arrangements for Ashura and legislative business in Senate before leaving for Dubai.
