Release 50% funds for development projects, orders Qaim

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday asked the Finance Department and the Planning & Development (P&D) Department to immediately release 50 percent funds in all districts of the province.
Presiding over a meeting to review the progress of development works in Sindh, the chief minister directed the P&D Department to finalise MPAs’ schemes and other special projects within the stipulated time.
He urged the department that various packages of Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, etc, be given priority as far as development schemes are concerned.
The participants of the meeting were informed that Rs 4.3 billion have been released for all packages of Karachi, whereas Rs 4 billion have been allocated for rural vitalisation, Rs 2 billion for town rehabilitation and Rs 2 billion for town social sector.
Moreover, the participants were told, Rs 27 billion have been released in the province so far, whereas fresh allocations would be released soon.
In the meeting, various issues came under discussion. The chief minister directed all the district officers, deputy commissioners, etc, to maintain all accounts in the Sindh Bank without further ado.
Highlighting the government’s stance to provide relief to the common man, particularly in the rain-affected areas, he termed the financial year 2011-12 as the “year of development”. “We have decided to complete the maximum number of schemes until the end of the current financial year.”
The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, P&D Additional Chief Secretary Israr Malik, Finance Secretary Naveed Kamran Baloch and Chief Minister’s Secretary Alamdin Bullo among others .
