Hospitals make special arrangements for Ashura

All major public hospitals in the city have made special arrangements to cope with any untoward incidents during Youm-e-Ashur, Pakistan Today has learnt. All senior professors would be on-call, while an extra number of surgeons would also be on duty. Moreover, additional duties have been assigned to staff and doctors in the emergency wards in case of any untoward incident. Dr Salman Kazmi of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) said special measures had been taken for these sensitive days. He said the measures had been taken in almost all major public sector hospitals, across the provincial capital.
RESCUE-1122TO REMAIN on HIGH ALERT: Rescuers of the Punjab Emergency Service (PES) (Rescue-1122) will remain on high alert on Muharram 10 in the provincial capital. Upon Director General (DG) Dr Rizwan Naseer’s directives, emergency vehicles had beeb deputed at all sites of Aashura processions and sensitive areas, along with trained staff to provide immediate pre-hospital emergency cover, if needed, while trained doctors would supervise the arrangements. The DG also visited the Rescue stations to inspect the arrangements. The Rescuers would remain present on special duties at the district control room, emergency rescue stations, while more than 30 equipped emergency ambulances, fire vehicles and special rescue vehicles to provide medical cover to public gatherings were also deputed. As many as 40 rescue posts were established at the central station, and various locations of the city. Meanwhile, other rescue services, including Punjab Red Crescent and Edhi, also made arrangements to deal with any emergency.
