Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Babar Awan has blamed the Sharif brothers for secretly meeting with US officials, according to a report by Dawn News on Sunday. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif held a secret meeting with a US diplomat on November 2, adding that such meetings should be discouraged. He said that Sharif brothers were chanting anti-US slogans but still receiving tens of millions of rupees from it for their Ittefaq Hospital. Awan also criticised the Punjab government for the “worst law and order situation” in Punjab.
He said that Amel Kansi was handed over to the US in the government of Nawaz Sharif, saying the chief of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz should also be tried under Article 6. The former minister also suggested the government to call American-Pakistani businessman Mansoor Ijaz in Abbotabad Commission’s investigations. He called Ijaz the “biggest liar of the century”, suggesting that he should be called to court by “red warrants”.
