With a view to facilitate special children live a normal life through education, the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has envisaged an ambitious plan to arrange need-based education for special children in their nearby schools. The pilot project would be launched from Lahore and it is expected that this educational ‘socialisation’ would sensitise the masses to the needs of special persons around them. PEF Chairman Raja Muhammad Anwar said this while talking to a five-member delegation of office bearers from various NGOs associated with the welfare of special persons, at his residence on Sunday. High officials of PEF briefed the delegation about the PEF public-private partnership model. Anwar said the Punjab government was working towards strengthening the institutions for special education in the public sector, adding that Rs. 35 million would be spent on setting-up of computer labs in 37 special education institutions in the province. This would provide an environment conducive to learning for special students, he said.
