A man allegedly gunned down his two nieces in the name of ‘honour’ here on late Saturday night. The incident took place in the Shad Bagh police precincts. Police said the accused, a local resident named Akram, was angry about his nieces’ ‘loose character’ since they had married against their family’s will. On late Saturday nigh, the infuriated uncle of Zainab and Robina barged into their house, where they had been living together and open gunfire. Robina reportedly died on the spot while Zainab was brought to a hospital in critical condition. She too died later on at the hospital during the treatment. The accused fled from the scene after the incident. Local police registered a case against the accused and started a hunt for the suspect.
MAN INJURED IN SCUFFLE DIES: A former security guard of PPP leader Zulfiqar Mirza succumbed to the knife injuries he had received during a domestic scuffle. The incident took place in the Factory Area police’s jurisdiction on Sunday. The victim was identified as Hakim Ali, 35, who hailed from Sindh. Police said Ali had been settled in Lahore for the last 8 years and ran a grocery shop on Ravi Road. They said the victim’s uncle had a dispute with his brother-in-law Nadeem and on Sunday they both had quarrel that got intense. Hakim Ali tried to intervene in their fight when Nadeem whipped out a knife and got seriously wounded. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The local police moved the body to a city morgue for autopsy and registered a case against the accused persons on the complaint of victim’s brother Shahab. No arrests were made till the filing of this story.
MAN INURED DURING ROBBERY DIES AT HOSPITAL: In another violent incident, a 50-year-old man named Professor Adnan, who had received serious injuries while resisting an armed robbery died at hospital late on Saturday night. The incident had taken place in Township police precincts
Adnan was a resident of Faisal Garden and on Saturday night he was having a stroll along with his wife in their street when three muggers riding a bike approached them and demanded cash and valuables. One of the robbers shot Adnan injured when he offered some. The robbers fled from the crime scene and the injured was brought to a hospital. He, however, died because of excessive bleeding. Police moved the body to a city morgue for an autopsy and registered a case. The police investigators, however, claimed on Sunday to have arrested three suspects from Green Town. They were identified as Ghazanfar, Habib and Bilal
STRANGULATED: Separately a 60-year-old man was strangulated by unidentified persons. The incident was reported in the Lower Mall police jurisdiction here on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Rahmat Ali, a resident of Farooq Azam, Bilal Ganj. Police said the deceased was a real-estate dealer and had contracted two marriages. They said Ali had a monetary dispute with his business partner named Naidr. Sabir Ali, the son of the deceased told the police he tried to contact his father on his mobile phone on Saturday but to no avail. He said when he reached his father’s home, he found him dead. Police started the investigation. In yet another incident some suspect jacked a car from the Jaain Mandir neighborhood on Sunday. A resident, Abbas Haider, had parked his white Mehran bearing number plate LZF-4948. When he returned his car was gone. Lytton Road police registered a case.
DEAD ‘ROBBER’ IDENTIFIED: Separately, Ghulshan Ravi police on Sunday claimed to have identified the robber who had been killed by his accomplices on Saturday. The suspect was identified as Zia police said no one had come to claim the body. The robber was killed by his accomplice during a robbery bid in Nishtar Block on Saturday.
JAIL INMATE CAUGHT WITH 700G HASHISH: Meanwhile, the officials of Kot Lakhpat Jail recovered over 700 grams of hashish from a prisoner and moved him to a smaller barrack (Chakki) as punishment. The prisoner was identified as Faheem Ali.
WOMAN SETS HERSELF ON FIRE: A woman set herself ablaze over a domestic issue in Naulakha police precincts. According to details, Kiran, a resident of Pathi Ground Naulakha, had a clash with her husband Tariq for not allowing her to visit her brother’s engagement. She set herself on fire and was taken to Mayo Hospital by Rescue1122 where her condition is said to be critical.
GOVERNOR HOUSE’S DRUNK STAFFER ESCAPES: A drunken staffer of Governor House, admitted to hospital after sustaining injuries in an accident, managed to flee from hospital in Ravi Road police limits. Per details, Muhammad Shahzad, an employee in Governor House, was driving A motorbike on Ravi Road in drunken state when he was hit by another motorcycle and was taken to local hospital in injured condition from where he escaped after getting first aid. Police said search was being conducted to arrest him.
RICKSHAW KILLS WOMAN: A speeding rickshaw crushed a woman in Shahdra police jurisdiction on Sunday. Naheed Bibi, 42, a resident of Rachna Town was hit while crossing the road and was taken to Mayo Hospital where she succumbed to injuries. The residents of locality held the rickshaw driver and handed over to police after beating him. Police registered case against him and handed the body to heirs of deceased.
SWINDLERS KILL MAN: Swindlers killed an elderly man by intoxicating him in Manga Mandi police precincts. As per details, Muhammad Tasleem, seated in Islamabad bound bus from Lodhran, was found dead near Manga Mandi. Police traced his relatives and handed over the dead body to them after due process.
