‘Following the footsteps’ of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif is staging a rally in Sindh on December 10.
Following the PTI’s grand show at Minar-e Pakistan in Lahore, the PML-N staged a rally in Faisalabad in almost the same fashion
On November 17, Shah Mehmood Qureshi announced that he is joining the PTI at a rally in Ghotki, a district of Sindh. PTI chief Imran Khan was also there.
Almost 13 days after the PTI rally, the PML-N also announced that it would stage a rally in the province, the difference being that it would be in the city of Larkana.
The PML-N rally might be arranged along the Airport Road of Larkana. PML-N leaders have started holding meetings with the Sindh National Front (SNF), the Pakistan People’s Party Shaheed Bhutto (PPP-SB) and nationalist parties to garner support for their show.
The central leaders of PML-N, including Rana Mashhood, have arrived in Karachi and holding meetings with SNF and PPP-SB leaders.
“We will contact and try to forge an alliance if possible with every person or party that opposes Asif Ali Zardari,” Imadad Cholyani, a central leader of PML-N belonging to Sindh, told Pakistan Today.
Political observers were of the view that the PML-N has taken on a big challenge by planning to stage a rally in the home district of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
PML-N leaders have started a mass contact campaign in the districts of Kambar-Shahdadkot, Larkana, Dadu, Khairpur, Sukkur, Shikarpur and Jacobabad to make their rally successful.
The Chandios of Kambar-Shahdadkot are in talks with the PPP. The Magsis are already every active in the party. One section of the Unnars has joined the PTI and the PPP has already contacted Altaf Hussain Unnar, a former provincial minister.
Ghous Ali Shah belongs to Khairpur, but his influence is negated due to the presence of Pir Pagara, Qaim Ali Shah and Mnazoor Wasan there.
In Dadu, Jatoi has already announced that he is forming his own party. The Shaikhs of Shikarpur are with the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional and the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid’s Likeminded group.
It would be very difficult for the PML-N to show its strength in Larkana district because its party structure in the province has not been finalised yet. But some leaders of the party remain optimistic about the success of their rally.
