NATO attack on Pakistani soldiers was not deliberate: Obama

US President Barack Obama on Sunday expressed condolences to President Asif Ali Zardari for the deaths last month of 24 Pakistani troops, saying the NATO airstrikes that killed them were not a “deliberate attack.”
A White House statement said Obama placed a call to President Zardari expressing his regrets over the “tragic loss” and promising a “full investigation” into the incident, which has plunged the two uneasy allies into a diplomatic crisis.
Obama “made clear that this regrettable incident was not a deliberate attack on Pakistan and reiterated the United States’ strong commitment to a full investigation,” the statement said.
Islamabad has so far refused to take part in a US investigation into the November 26 air strikes on the Afghan border.
But the White House said Obama and Zardari nonetheless “reaffirmed their commitment to the US-Pakistan bilateral relationship, which is critical to the security of both nations, and they agreed to stay in close touch.”
In the wake of the strikes, Pakistan decided not to take part in the Bonn Conference on the future of Afghanistan that opens Monday — a decision which, together with the Taliban’s boycott, has cast the event’s usefulness into doubt.
Pakistan has also shut down NATO’s vital supply line into Afghanistan and ordered American personnel to leave Shamsi air base.

  1. He is not even apologising.he just wants natos cereal, wheat and oil supply route back.he gives a dam to pakistan ,since there is no usa president visit to pakistan in 5 years.

  2. hahaha 60 % supply from Pakistan and 40% from Turkmenistan. You think they were not going to apologize?! Their army was already mumbling in low supply stash.

  3. Just now it has been reported on all TV channels that President Barack Obama telephoned today to President Asif Ali Zardari and told that NATO attack on Pakistani post was UNINTENTIONAL. The problem is how Pakistan can take his words as not a lie. Remember, ealiear few months back this American president thundered about Raymond Davis That he was a diplomat, which later proved to be a white lie.

  4. A) it is not an apology, a condolence message that too after seven days.
    B) There is no admission of guilt and a firm commitment never to let it happen again.
    C) People of Pakistan don't care about a phone call to Zardari. They want the US to apologize to the people of Pakistan. It would be best if it comes from the President, Secretary (big mouth) Defence. Once the apology is in place, akistan should move on and make it clear that any US planes crossing into Pakistan will be shot down.

More importanly, why did the Army give a clearance to Americans to shoot at what they thought was a Taliban hideout inside Pakistan, which turned out to be our military posts? Why are they surrendering the sovereignty, shouldn't there be some accountability;ity here?

  5. only condolences after 8 days..haahah..just crocodile tears..thats more than what pakis deserve anyway…..lets hear them apologise for entertaining osama…..!!!!!!!!

    • Yea and lets you hear you apologize for killing hundreds of thousands of iraqis, afghanis and Pakistanis. Moron ignorant white trash. I wont even mention about the numbers of palestinians that you're bitch master israel has killed over decades. Go f^#k yourself.

  6. Obama is calling to his agent and telling him to open supply route. This whole news is not telling even 1% what is being discussed

  7. Wonder where the WESTERN MEDIA get its cues. ? WE SHOULD BE MARKETING THE NATO INCIDENT OF NOV. 26 AS 26/11 OF PAKISTAN

  8. No, Barak Hussain Obama, NO. This is not the way. We think blood of 24 martyrs of Salala was much more sacred than 3,000 people killed on 9/11. You need to mend your ways. We have lost 38,000 people in a war started by you. This makes your loss of 3,000 on 9/11 mere peanuts. And 9/11 too was merely a game plan of your despicable neocons. We have not received any investigation report with hard evidence 10 years after 9/11 and still we have lost 38,000 lives and over US$ 70 billion in terms economic losses. We cannot now wait for your inquiry of 11/26. You tell us report will come to you on 12/23. You did not take that long on 9/11. Don't play dirty games with us.
