Despite Pakistan’s boycott of the upcoming Bonn Conference, Germany has decided to adopt a stance on future of Afghanistan acceptable to Pakistan and other regional countries, diplomatic sources said Saturday.
The sources told Online that Germany perceives Pakistan role for future of Afghanistan is crucial and has already expressed its sadness over boycott by the country as a result of NATO attacks on its two posts in Mohmand Agency along Afghan border.
In the international conference on future of Afghanistan scheduled on Monday in German City of Bonn, Germany would stress sustainable stabilisation and development depends on an ‘Afghan-led peace and reconciliation process’, supported by the region and the international community, the sources said.
The sources added that Pakistan for long was supporting Afghan-led peace and reconciliation process and this stance would be welcomed by the country in the long-run.
Afghanistan is also always stressing an Afghan-led political process for stability and it is expected that the conference will encourage this process.
Chaired by Afghanistan and hosted by Germany, the conference theme is From Transition to Transformation. Over 100 delegations are expected in Bonn. More than 60 delegations will be led by foreign ministers or heads of international organisations.
German foreign minister had visited Pakistan recently to develop consensus for succeeding the conference.
