Educationists slam ‘illegal’ appointment of college teacher

Educationists have demanded the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) and Higher Education Department secretary should immediately remove Saba Sultan, the head of Mass Communication department at the Government Fatima Jinnah College, claiming her appointment was made in violation of relevant laws.
They alleged that Saba was appointed as assistant professor (AP) in violation of rules and that Saba had produced a fake experience certificate to get the slot
They are demanding of the PPPC and HED officials to take notice of illegal appointment in the Chuna Mandi college, alleging serious academic corruption done by Saba Sultana. The PPSC officials confirmed Friday they had received an application against the appointment of Saba Sultana.
A PPSC source said a seat of AP had been lying vacant at the Chuna Mani college and the PPSC duly advertised the position, against which they received a large number of job applications
He said that it was tragedy that a number of other applications were rejected by the commission and Saba was appointed “illegally” only because the principal of the Chuna Mandi college, Asia Begum, wanted her to get the job. According to a female candidate for the same job, Saba was selected on the basis of a fake experience certificate and that by doing so she had misguided the PPSC. She said that according to criteria, the candidate was required to be an M Phil in the relevant subject with five years of teaching experience at some college or university. She said Saba had four years and seven months experience by the closing date; hence she was not an eligible candidate for the job. She alleged Saba had submitted a fake experience certificate to the principal of the college. She said all the rejected candidates wanted justice from the PPSC. She called for an inquiry into the “blatant fraud”. Saba Sultana, when contacted by this scribe, declined to comment on the issue.
