The Senate on Friday adopted a unanimous resolution, condemning the NATO attack on border posts over the weekend which killed 25 soldiers and injured 13 others.
The government angrily reacted to the strike by NATO fighter jets and helicopters in Mohmand tribal region along the border with Afghanistan and as a protest closed supply line to NATO troops in Afghanistan and boycotted the Bonn Conference.
Pakistan also asked the U.S. to vacate a strategically important airbase in Balochistan province, which the U.S. has been using for nearly 10 years for military operations in Afghanistan and spy aircraft strikes in Pakistan’s tribal regions.
Leader of the Opposition in Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri moved the resolution which was backed by other Senators belonging to the treasury and opposition benches.
“This House strongly condemns the NATO aggression. It is an attack on sovereignty and integrity of the country and the entire nation is grieved. This barbaric act is totally intolerable,” the resolution said.
“It is not first such attack on Pakistan forces as similar events have been taken place in the past too. Hence, this House does not accept this excuse of NATO that the attack was a result of some kind of misunderstanding,” it said.
The resolution added that the attack was contrary to the United Nations resolutions and those of international laws.
Besides an early implementation of Unanimous Resolutions of the Parliament of October 22, 2008 and May 13, 2011, the resolution demanded to resist such kinds of attacks in future in every possible way.
