Asma Jahangir, former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, on Thursday announced her willingness to represent former ambassador to United States Husain Haqqani in the ongoing judicial investigations into the memogate scandal. Speaking in a Dunya News programme, Asma claimed that Haqqani had requested her earlier to defend him in the court, but she had refused. However, she reconsidered her decision and informed Haqqani’s wife of her willingness to be the former envoy’s lawyer for only Rs 4,000. She believed that Haqqani was innocent in the case and that is why she had agreed to defend him.
