The Malaysian model of urban development can prove effective for Karachi and the traffic problems in the metropolis can be resolved by utilising the Malaysian Pre-cast Flyover Construction Technology, the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said on Tuesday. He said this while talking to journalists in his office after meeting Malaysian Consul General Abu Bakar Mamat. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, including developmental projects initiated in Karachi by Malaysian companies and investment in more such projects were discussed in detail. Terming Malaysia ‘an old friend of Pakistan’, the city administrator said that Karachi offers lucrative opportunities to investors from all over the world especially the Malaysian companies can invest in the urban development sector. “The Malaysian Urban Development Model can be effectively used in Karachi especially through the pre-cast flyover technology flyovers can be constructed in the least possible time.” The Malaysian consul general said that transfer of technology between the two big cities, Karachi and Kuala Lumpur, would prove beneficial for Karachi. “Any hurdles can be removed with negotiations and meetings as Malaysia can help in urban planning and we expect more new joint projects in future.”
