Police trainees deployed for Muharram security

The training programmes at the Police Training Schools in Sihala and Chuhang have been suspended on temporary basis, while the under-training staff and officers were called in the city for performing security duties during Muharram, said Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmed Raza Tahir.
Talking to reporters during a briefing at the Investigations Headquarters, Qila Gujjar Singh, he said that the Lahore police has made fool proof security measures in order to avoid any untoward incident during the Ashura days. He said that over 12,000 police officials will provide security cover to 4,000 Majalis and 90 processions. He said that a force of 600 volunteers, including men and women, had also been constituted with the help of the Imambargahs’ administration, to search mourners entering in the Majalis and processions.
He said that the Lahore Police was receiving dozens of messages regarding the entry of terrorists in the city, however, many of the alerts were found to be bogus.
