Capital police conduct flag march for Muharram security

In a bid to ensure foolproof security and maintain law and order in the capital city during Muharram, the capital police conducted on Wednesday a flag march in which police personnel, anti-terrorist squads, patrolling squads of Rescue 15 and contingents of police commandos, Rangers participated. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malik Muhammad Yousaf led the march, which was organised on the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan. All the SPs including SP (Sadar Zone) Sajid Kyani, SP (City) Muhammad Ilyas, SP (Rural) Faisal Bashir Memon, SP (Industrial Area) Ishaq Warraich, SDPOs and SHOs were also present on the occasion.
Others who participated in the march included personnel of Islamabad Traffic Police, patrolling officers, Eagle squads, Falcons of Rescue 15, Quick Response Force squads, lady commandoes and officers of District Management, said a press statement issued here. It said more than 110 vehicles of Islamabad police and other wings along with a large number of motorcycles were part of the march, which started from Pakistan Sports Complex and culminated at the starting point after passing through Aabpara Chowk, Melody Chowk, Imambargah Asna-e-Ashri G-6/2, Bari Imam, Blue Area, Jinnah Avenue, Imambargah Al-Sadiq G-9/2, F-10 Markaz, F-11 Markaz, Bhekha Syedan, Golra Shareef, Shah Allah Ditta, Trnol, G-11 Markaz, G-10 Markaz, G-9 Markaz, (Karachi Company), Jamia Al Murtaza G-9/4, Khyber Chowk, Kashmir Highway.
The SSP said the aim of the flag march was to ensure the security of Muharram processions.
All the SDPOs and the SHOs have been told to launch an effective search operation within their jurisdictions including slum areas where most of the inhabitants are Afghans
Malik Yousaf said the law enforcers would maintain a close liaison with peace committees and organisers of Muharram majalis and processions.
He told the media that as many as 909 majalis and 177 processions would be held in the city. He said special arrangements would be made to check ‘burqa-clad’ women participants of the processions.
