With study time over, Bilawal ready for the job?

With political temperatures soaring in Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari – the Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) – has started politicking in Sindh.
President Asif Ali Zardari had announced earlier this year that Bilawal would take on some political responsibilities in the country after September, and now that the younger Zardari has completed his education at the University of Oxford, he has started to do just that. Bilawal made his first public appearance in Larkana on Sunday. He drove through different areas of his slain mother Benazir Bhutto’s home district and met the commoners. He listened to their problems, received their applications and forwarded them to the authorities concerned for resolving the issues of the masses.
On Monday, Bilawal visited Naudero, the native town of the Bhuttos. He visited the house of Major Mujahid Ali Mirani, one of the personnel of the Pakistan Army assassinated in the recent NATO attack on an army check-post near the Afghan border. He offered fateha with the relatives of the slain major.
Earlier, Bilawal attended the chehlum of Begum Nusrat Bhutto at the Naudero House. He also attended PPP meetings, but it was the first time that his father was not with him. However, his aunt Faryal Talpur and party leaders, including Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, accompanied him during his activities.
Larkana is the Bhuttos’ hometown and the centre of the ruling PPP’s politics. Following Benazir’s assassination in 2007, Zardari has given more time to Larkana than his native town Nawabshah. Zardari’s sister Faryal Talpur, former district nazim of Nawabshah (now Benazirabad), also gives all her time to Larkana as she is an elected MNA from the district.
Benazir got Bilawal’s vote registered in Larkana as well. Zardari had indicated a few months ago that Bilawal would contest elections from Karachi’s Lyari Town. The younger Zardari could contest from Larkana as well as Lyari since both the places have much political significance for the PPP.

  1. Let the legacy go on and it is a very exciting step for PPP to introduce Bilawal Bhutto. Bhutto's not only rule Sind but they rule all over Pakistan. Bilawal will shine like a penny among the old PPP leaders. Younger vote bank can be attracted to Bilawal and PPP if he makes few speeches in Liyari, Mochee gate, Laiqaut bagh and Kissa khawani bazar. Obviously with his political party elders from the provinces like Jehangir Badr and others. It is a very interesting to know that PPP is coming up with an answer to the rising popularity of PTI. This could be a long haul for both parties.

      • PTI get Fatima Bhutto on board.

Fatima is hard hurt and hard bitten by criminals in her own family. She is young and intelligent. She knows what is like being on the receiving end. She will be an asset in the service of Pakistan. Others in her extended family have just dished out. They have been dodging the criminal and civil justice systems not only in Pakistan but internationally.

Fatima should be humble and understanding and will be well liked by people.

  2. We are in 2011 and people of Pakistan are suffering from energy, economic crisis and law on order specially Karachi. Still G.A. Buhtto?

  3. I wish,ur life will full of success. ….Bilawal, sorry I can’t telll about ur responsibilitys,u know what ur responsibility. ….

  4. There are hundreds of young Pakistani men and women who are much more capable and bright than this idiot. There has been no one like Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. People are mis-directed to believe that the Bhutto family is essential for the party. PPP must get rid of this corrupt family now and take a new turn. This is not young blood; this is corrupt blood.

  5. a 23 yrs old younkg boy with no political experience & invovement in pak. is going to be nation's head?? stop playing with paki ppl. now. they r not that stupid ke un ki qismat kisi ke bhi haath main de do!!

  6. @aamna
I have the same sentiments as yours; but I beg to differ in your rating our stupidity. I think we are a very stupid nation. We keep voting for these rascals and criminals (ALL politicians, not just PPP) again and again.

The alarming thing is that there is a whole crop of these "young" worthless spoiled rich "sons" who are now coming forward to carry on the looting and destruction of Pakistan that has been set in place by the elders.

I appeal to the most intelligent and sincere young people of Pakistan through this forum to wake up and realise their strength and ability. The looters are rich but are in minority. The governing of Pakistan belongs to the thousands of honest and intelligent young people.

Let us throw away hero worship and take this beautiful country in our hands. Remember, there is not even ONE politician worth our trust. Long live Pakistan, a land of simple, poor and honest young people!

  7. I like the way they stick the 'Bhutto' in his name.

Fact of the matter is, in Pakistan as in most other places a child acquires the fathers surname and not his maternal grandfathers.
