A number of women showcased their exquisite floral designs and artifacts in a programme entitled “Fashion through Flowers” held here at a local hotel.
Arranged by Floral Art Society of Pakistan (FASP), the programme amused the audience with unique floral presentations, giving a touch of Autumn colours and shades.
Around 25 women wearing flower made jewellery, shoes, dresses and hand bags, purses and umbrellas staged a catwalk along with rhythms of instrumental music. The dresses, shoes and accessories like purses, earrings, necklaces, bangles, hair clips, and hair-bands were embellished with the use of leaves, flowers, seeds, pulses and rough material of daily use. The women, wearing colourful fresh and artificial flowers, reflected the beauty of nature through their outfits and jewellery. Earlier, FASP President Samina Shahid Rafi gave a demonstration in which she made amazing table mats using leaves, pulses and dry and fresh flowers.
In her welcoming address, Samina said nature blessed human beings with different beautiful things and there was a need to explore these and use for beautification.
She urged the members of the society to make greater efforts to display their artistic abilities. Samina appealed the members to convey messages of national integration and harmony through language of flowers.
The judges for the selection of women wearing the most beautiful and unusual floral designs were Samia Sikandar and Shireen Khan. According to their judgement, Salma Kamal and Annie Noman were declared as first while Sobia Riaz and Shandana Bangash clinched second position. The third position went to Yasmeen Sohail and Naseem Amjad.
