The Sui Southern Gas Company announced its schedule on Monday for halting gas supply to CNG stations under its load management plan.
However, the All Pakistan CNG Association has decided to keep the stations open, rejecting the decision and calling it unfair. Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, the central chairman of the association, said that they will move the court against the decision.
According to the schedule, gas supply to CNG stations will be discontinued for two days from 11 pm on November 29 to 11 pm on December 1.
In the second shutdown, the supply to CNG stations will be discontinued from 11 pm on December 7 to 11 pm on December 8. In the third shutdown, supply to CNG stations will be suspended from 9 pm on December 9 to 7 am on December 10.
In the fourth shutdown of the schedule, gas supply to CNG stations will be stopped from 9 pm on December 10 to 7 am on December 11.
In a press release, the SSGC said that the gas supply has been curtailed to CNG stations to maintain adequate gas pressures for household consumers in the province.
The decision has been made after taking the CNG associations into confidence over the situation arising out of the increased consumption of gas during winter and SSGC’s strategy of gas curtailment.
With the advent of the winter season, natural gas demand increases considerably due to additional heating load, especially in the domestic sector, invariably creating low pressures in the system and causing inconvenience to gas consumers. Therefore, the SSGC has resorted to gas load management to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to the domestic sector.
Regretting the inconvenience caused to CNG consumers, the SSGC said the company reiterates that the gas supply will be restored as soon as pressures normalises and requested all its customers to use gas thriftily.
