Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Secretary Information Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that his party can move the court against former foreign minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, for levelling severe allegations against President Asif Ali Zardari.
“Party leadership is very tolerant to Qureshi but how long one can be patient”, Kaira said on Monday.
Qamar Zaman Kaira, the former information minister, also went on to say that Shah Mehmood was violating the constitution by disclosing the sensitive issues of country’s foreign policy as well as security affairs in the public rallies.
The PPP leader continued that according to the constitution and oath of his ministry, Qureshi was bound to remain silent about the important secrets of the foreign policy. Qureshi, however, is disclosing those for political point scoring, he added.
“Shah Mehmood is also doing against his oath and putting the national interest at stake by speaking on sensitive issues in the public which came to his knowledge being a foreign minister of the country,” Kaira held.
He said that Qureshi could also be legally charged for leveling severe allegations against President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and other high profile party’s leaders. “We can move the court against him (Qureshi) if he continues targeting our leaders, Kaira maintained.
To a question regarding Qureshi’s statement about insecurity of nuclear program under Zardari, the party spokesperson said that he had gone below the belt and his statements were just meant to political point scoring and creating panic among the masses.
“After leaving the PPP, Qureshi wants political exposure and to keep himself alive in political scene,” Kaira said adding it is why Qureshi was making controversial statements.
Responding to a query regarding Qureshi new political destination, the PPP leader said that he would be a part of history soon, regardless whichever party he joined.
