Pakistan denies NATO was under fire before attack

Pakistan on Monday denied reports that its troops opened fire first, therefore triggering lethal NATO cross-border air strikes that left 24 Pakistani soldiers dead.
“This is not true. They are making up excuses. And by the way, what are their losses, casualties?” Major General Athar Abbas, Pakistan’s chief military spokesman, wrote to AFP in a text message.
The Wall Street Journal, citing three unnamed Afghan officials and one Western official, said Saturday’s attack, which has prompted fury in Islamabad, was called in to shield NATO and Afghan forces targeting Taliban fighters.
The fire came from remote outposts in the Mohmand region in Pakistan’s lawless tribal belt, branded an Al-Qaeda hub by Washington.
An Afghan official said that the government in Kabul believes the fire came from a Pakistani military base — and not from insurgents in the area.
That version was corroborated by two Afghan officials working in the border zone. One border police official said Pakistani officials were informed of the NATO operation ahead of time, the Wall Street Journal said.

  1. Classic example of American hypocrisy. They should offer the Pakistanis 24 american soldiers to be shot by the poor victims families, so as to even the odds. The world should now realize that EVERY human life is worth the same. Americans in particular are in no way superior to anyone else. If only the citizens of the U.S knew how much hate their govt actually spread in the world, all in the name of their "National Security". America has the blood of thousands of innocents on her hands. They are no better than the Nazis.

  2. Its the time for us to think about engaging friendly relationship with America. Everyone in this world know the behavior of the America. If they are getting some benefit, they are ready to sell their wifes. Because they are capitalist.
We should stop killing our people in the name of War on terrorism and rebel against this US/Nato plan. We should permanently cut the Nato/US supply line. We should counter attack on their strategic plans by disturbing their presence and try to expel them out of Afghanistan.

Its the time for us to review our foreign policy by changing current capitalist system to islamic system. These is the only way to get out of this risk. Because, in Islamic system, it never allow our leaders to make friendship with Americans or Nato. Only peace treaty. Our Army also wouldnt surrender to the need of America. Also it prevent our army to declare war on our own people because you are not allowed to kill muslim.

Our Army generals need to think about it.

    We have back bone brothers.

  3. ”The attack was no accident. It is a re-run of the bombing of Cambodia in the 1970’s as the US was getting it’s * kicked in Vietnam. The US is losing in Afghanistan and needs to blame someone and punish that someone for the fiasco that is NATO’s role in Afghanistan.
Even a * with a slight knowledge of history could have told America that dirt poor Afghanistan, rooted in the 15th century was still the hardest peice of real estate in the world to subdue.
Well now mighty USA has started something it may very well come to regret. The road to Kabul is through Pakistan and so is the road out. Getting in was relatively bloodless, staying has become bloody and expensive, leaving may become a nightmare for NATO.
Get this straight, a pro-Indian anti Pakistani government in Kabul has a snow balls chance in hell of surviving without US boots on the ground. Karzai can’t even trust his own Afghan body guard and guess what, NATO has learnt also how treacherous Afghani soldiers and policemen can be. It’s tough neighbourhood and Pakistan plays by the neighbourhood rules not Obama/Bush’s” Quotation from post on yahoo.

Pakistan needs to remind NATO that an exit without Pakistan’s support is going to be a hellish undertaking for GI Joe and his NATO buddies. Pakistan can make a bad situation a nightmare by simply sitting back and letting Afghanistan slip out of NATO’s weak control.

  4. We must stand on this issue. Nato must inquire the issue and give capital punishment all those who were involved.
But do not expect anything good from this government and our Army Generals. They are servant of USA for donation.

    • We must now end these ties. there hasn't been any benefit to us other than the collateral damage on our borders.

  5. Clarifications required:
    1. The US media said the attack took place in early hours i.e. 2 AM local time, while our media reported to this happen 9 AM. Why this discrepancy? Was the GHQ unawair of the incident during this stime?

    2. Why to sign secret agreement with the US after the Carry-Lugar Bill and Raymond Davis event? Why the people of Pakistan cannot access the contents of agreement? Are the protectors more privileged than those who they are supposed to protect?

  7. Well. This has to happen as our people are also medium taliban minded, means follows strict and voilent religion and it is not islam. If they were true muslim they should not welcome them in neighbourrhood

  8. The statement of DG ISPR that NATO forces continued their bombardment of Pakistani post and slaughter of our soldiers for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, raises questions why PAF planes were not sent for the rescue of our beleaguered soldiers. Who will answer this question?????
