Former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi told thousands of supporters and followers at a public gathering in Ghotki on Sunday that he has joined the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).
“I have joined the party that is working towards justice and change. I am now part of Imran Khan’s party,” he announced. Qureshi had sought to keep his future political plans secret after resigning from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) but the decision did not come as a surprise, as Imran Khan had declared weeks ago that Qureshi would end up in his party. Qureshi told the crowd that the time had come to for fresh general elections. The National Assembly, he said, was not functioning according to the aspirations of the people. “It is time for this government to go,” he said. Qureshi said he stepped down as the country’s foreign minister in a meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on the Raymond Davis fiasco. The former foreign minister said Pakistan’s nuclear programme was not safe in the presence of Zardari and said he would reveal more about the nuclear programme at the PTI’s next public meeting in Karachi. Qureshi said further that President Zardari had said he would not be allowed to hold a rally in Ghotki, however Ghotki did not belong to Zardari but to the Sindhi people.
He said the PPP’s founding chairman Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was a son of Sindh and he came out before the people of Pakistan when the members of the National Assembly did not listen to him. He said the Sindhis were the people who had passed the first resolution for the establishment of Pakistan in the Sindh Assembly. The former foreign minister said the convoy that started from Multan would go all the way and topple the “pharaoh” in Islamabad.
He also said all eyes were on Imran Khan because the nation was looking for a leader to lead from the front and make the country prosperous. “I am embarking on a new journey and from today onwards, Shah Mehmood is part of your team,” he told Khan to thunderous applause.
Earlier, addressing the same gathering, Imran Khan had invited the former foreign minister to join his party. Commenting on the NATO attack in Mohmand Agency, the PTI chairman urged the government to pull out of the US-led war on terror. He said Qureshi’s entry into his party would be useful for the country.

  1. Well done. Congratulations every one.

Now move further to invite Fatima Bhutto to join PTI. She is an honorable person who was treated heartlessly. She was only 11 or 14 when Asif Ali Zardari informed her of her father's death. She was suffered in silence for years. Also do not forget Mumtaz Ali Bhutto.

There are other disgruntled elements of PPP. These are very capable individuals and would be an asset to PTI, if they agree to join.

  3. Unbelievable hypocrisy. What happened to not supporting and promoting fuedal politics? Has SMQ declared his assets? Has he had no corruption cases against him?

    • He does not have any corruption cases against him… Unbelievable but true…There is a Wikileak cable on it, when PPP was considering a PM the three nominees were Amin Fahim, Syed Yusef Raza Gillani and Sah Mahmood. Amin Fahim was not acceptable to Zardari. Shah Mehmood was rejected as he was considered too independent and ambitious. Yusuf raza was known to be very corrupt but was understood to be dependable

  4. such rent a politicians dont really make a difference where ever they go whatever they opt for!…Mr. Shah tired to create all that drama just to give people something to come into his Jalsa to listen his future course outline. He had decided much earlier to join PTI…….!

  5. jalnay walaay ka muu kalaaa..to all he PML N nokers….if he would have joined you…you guys mus be very happy..bu now you can see all he problems with him..wha abou Q leaugue lootass…and what about Nawaz asking SQM to join him..hahahhaha…pain is evident….

  6. Without Proportional Representation system , it will remain a dilemma of our electoral politics to rely upon traditional constituency winners . Fault is with the system .

  7. Now, how we believe imran as he accepts the same feudal,,why not he reject & select an honest learned normal man against qureshi,,I am disappointed as I consider them same as ppp.. Not reliable for the poor welfare… We should find some other better person of character,,leadership,,honesty, bravery etc…

  8. People who are criticizning are not aware of rural politics or never been there. PTI need 1000 candidates and few will be old one.

  9. Its naive to think that every politician in PML or PPP is corrupt. There are still some parliamentarians in the ruling parties who have a decent track record. there are more like Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jahangir Train.

  10. “Save the country from politics of inheritance”

Mr. Qureshi himself is a product of politics of inheritance. hahaha. Thats a joke.

  11. There will be no revolution in the country with these elite horses. They are ruling pakistani massess since their grandfathers. I have no doubt to say Imran can not bring revolution with these people.

  12. Change means that what was before wasn’t perfect….People want things to be better / improved – new version.

With a cricket ball, when it gets old, one can ‘reverse swing’ it to take quick wickets and change the situation of the match in your favor, BUT in politics how can you beat the drums of CHANGE with old politicians…….! It is not cricket, it is politics!

Politicians…who are third rated, whom no major party is ready to opt…who indeed are the ‘Siyasi Yateems’ in the true sense……!

  13. Discussing Qureshi's allegiance is stupid. At least he's serving the country from the best possible position to do that. Rather than sticking to his guns and shooting everyone down. Kudos to him.

    Also, BIG SURPRISE.

  14. Iss nay N chori muslim league zindabad kay narey lagata tha , phir iss nay ppp join ki jeye bhutto or zinda hai bb zinda hai aur ajj dekho iss ibnul waqt ko zinda hai quom zinda hai .. Qoum tu zinda hai shah saab par app ka zameer mar chuka hai

  15. BUUUUUUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GODLEY. Shah you will not regret your this decision ever. I understand you don't care about the ministries, forget foreign minister, may be you get prime minister. One never knows, Imran Khan is a person who will go for merits and who is better than yourself as far as the credentials go to qualify for any political or national government job from anything to prime minister. I mean you have worked in the city, State and national governments, Chief of the top PPP state political party and have dealt with the rest of the world at your last position. Imran Khan still would be the leader but understanding Imran's approach he could be the most powerful person by controlling executive, legislature and judiciary and just be a people's man.

  18. congratulations to Qureshi and Imran Khan for this grand alliance and a good omen for bringing political and socio- economic revolution in Pakistan.

  19. khan ab where is change old drink is in new botle . all corrept faces r cuming back on tha name of revolution .this is not revolution .
