PNS ‘Saif’ on a goodwill visit to Sri Lanka

Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Saif will begin a goodwill visit to Sri Lanka from November 26 to 29 in order to strengthen the existing strong relationship between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
Saif will conduct a Passage Exercise with the country’s navy, upon conclusion of the port visit, according to an official handout released on Friday.
Pakistan Navy Ship Saif will also be visiting Malaysia and Maldives after visiting Sri Lanka, as a part of its programme to visit other friendly regional countries.
Pakistan navy provides a number of training courses for Sri Lankan Navy personnel. In order to further enhance the potential for sharing of military knowledge and expertise, particularly in the face of emerging terrorist threat, both the countries share their experience, stated the memo issued.
It is pertinent to mention that Saif is the third ship of Sword class F22P Frigates, which has been built in China. Being the front line ship of Pakistan Navy, SAIF is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons technology making it capable of undertaking all kinds of maritime operations at sea during war and peace.
To support neighbouring countries, Pakistan supports such endeavours and the naval ships frequently visit Sri Lankan ports.
Apprising the strong bond of commitment and mutual understanding both the countries share, the statement hope stated that, “In future too, both the brotherly countries are expected to work more closely in the field of defence to boost peace efforts in the region.”
