After a preliminary hearing of the petition against Sherry Rehman’s nomination as ambassador to the US, Justice Khalid Mahmood of the Lahore High Court on Friday forwarded the plea to chief justice of the top provincial court, a private TV channel reported.
During the initial hearing, Justice Mahmood said another petition against Sherry Rehman’s disqualification was pending with Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh. Therefore, the recent petition was being sent to Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed so that all pending cases against the former federal minister could be put together, he said.
Earlier on Thursday, petitioner Advocate Mohammad Azhar Siddique had stated that Sherry Rehman had not resigned from her membership of the National Assembly which was why she could not be appointed to any government post.
