Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif are disrespecting the parliament’s decisions and violating the Constitution, said Sindh Electric Power and Information Minister Shazia Marri on Thursday.
Speaking at a press conference, Marri said the Sharif brothers should read Article 6 of the Constitution.
She said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Punjab government have broken records of every type of corruption, including financial and moral.
According to her, the issues of Ayesha Ahad and Sapna are big examples of moral corruption witnessed during the PML-N government in Punjab. Marri said the women of Punjab particularly are victims in the province.
She said even women lawmakers in the Punjab Assembly are not being provided their share of the development funds. “It’s a shameful act and we condemn it,” she added.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader asked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan to cancel his party’s public meeting to be held on December 25 at the Qauid-e-Azam’s mausoleum in Karachi because it would be Christmas Day and the meeting would cause inconvenience to the Christian community.
Talking about the damage Sindh has experienced due to heavy rains, the PPP minister said the government has taken various steps for relief and rehabilitation of the affected population.
According to her, some 121 water purification plants are being installed in the flood-affected areas for providing clean drinking water to the people.
She said these plants have already been installed in some localities and work is under way in other areas, and these water purification plants would provide sweet water at least 18 hours a day.
Marri told the media that the Sindh government has provided Rs 5.5 billion for relief and rehabilitation of the rain-affected areas, and the federal government’s contribution is Rs 1.5 billion.
She said the funds would be spent on provision of financial assistance to the rain-hit people through Watan cards, revival of the agriculture sector and other relief activities.
The provincial government has also provided an additional amount of Rs 1 billion for the agriculture sector, she added.
