Students in a painting exhibition on Wednesday presented ideas to maintain traffic discipline in the city and tried to deliver the message that responsible attitude and patience on roads were the only ways to ensure a safe road environment and avoid fatal accidents.
The exhibition ‘Road Safety’, arranged by the Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) in connection with its six years celebration, was open for all the students from various schools and colleges. Islamabad Chief Commissioner Tariq Mehmood Pirzada, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood, SP (Traffic) Mir Vais Niaz, famous artist Jamal Shah and other police officials were also present on the occasion, says a press statement.
Youngsters prepared different paintings in line with traffic rules. Various groups were made for the exhibition comprising of primary, secondary, higher secondary and special children. Puppet and magic show were also arranged to entertain the participants.
The first prize in the HSSC level was won by Hanna Sharif from IMCG F-10/2, second prize by Zuhaira Arshad and third by Iqra Mumtaz. Similarly, the first prize of secondary level students was won by Muhammad Bilal Mohsin, second by Sehrish Khan and third by Maria Hassan. Likewise, Ahmed Mir of primary level student got first prize with Ayesha Masood and Abdullah Jilani grabbing the second and third slot. In category of special students, Iqra Jabeen, Mumtaz and Raja Waqas obtained first, second and third prizes respectively. Speaking on the occasion, Islamabad Chief Commissioner Tariq Mehmood Pirzada said the ITP had succeeded in ensuring a safe road environment within a very short span of time. “It is really great honour for ITP that its working policies are being replicated by the other law enforcement agencies and police department,” he added.
He said the ITP had involved public in various affairs to ensure community policing in the city and was doing its best for a commuters’ safety.
He urged the students to advise people in their surroundings to follow road discipline. SSP Dr Moeen Masood said TP had merged as a role model for other police organisations, adding that it was following a zero tolerance policy and eliminated VIP culture as per its objectives. The police bosses assured the audience to consider the innovative ideas of students expressed during the contest.
