Protesting nurses guaranteed pay protection

Nurses from southern-Punjab districts protesting for a pay rise and increased protection met with health department officials at the civil secretariat on Wednesday.
Nurses from Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Vehari districts had been protesting for the past week against pay deductions and no raise, despite regularisation.
The Health Department issued notification of pay-protection for the nurses. Earlier, the nurses had threatened to extend their strike and stop working in emergencies. Moreover, the health department had notified the lists of cases waiting for promotions from grade-18 to grade-19, and those who were to be promoted from grade-16 to grade-17 that a Departmental Promotion Committee meeting would decide their promotions in two weeks.
