Begum Nusrat Bhutto offered unforgettable sacrifices for the oppressed masses of the country and democracy, said People’s Youth Organisation (PYO) Punjab President and Adviser to PM on Youth Affairs Mian Muhmmad Ayub on Wednesday.
Addressing a condolence reference, the PYO president said after the imprisonment of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and then after his martyrdom, Begum Nusrat Bhutto faced atrocities of the worst dictatorship of General Zia. When the PPPP witnessed bad time, she torched the light of democracy in the dark night of martial law, he said.
“Begum Nusrat Bhutto was a woman of substance who gave more to the world than she took from it. She lost her husband, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, undoubtedly the biggest political leader Pakistan has seen after Quaid-e-Azam; she lost two young sons, Shahnawaz and Murtaza, she also lost Benazir Bhutto, an icon for not just Pakistan but also women around the world. Begum Sahiba will remain an inspiration to the political workers of Pakistan, in general, and PPP workers, in particular,” Ayub said.
He said she was a symbol of courage and a great mother of the nation, who fought against dictatorship. She received head injuries during ruthless baton charge in the regime of dictator General Zia at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, She fought for the rights of workers, labourers, peasants and women of the country, he added. Begum Sahiba would remain alive forever in the hearts of millions of people of Pakistan, he concluded.
