Wife of United States US Ambassador to Pakistan Dr Marilyn Wyatt on Wednesday visited the Eidgah Sharif shrine in Rawalpindi and praised the charitable service, shared both by Pakistan and the US.
According to a press release, the wife of Cameron Munter met with Pir Naqeebur Rehman, the custodian of the shrine, and his wife. She was informed that the historic shrine had provided millions of meals to those in need for over 100 years.
Dr Wyatt appreciated the services of Eidgah Sharif and stressed the need to promote the tradition, which could be helpful for the poor.
She also noted that many people in the United States volunteered to help feed the poor at the time of year in celebration of the American holiday. She said women, children, and elderly were particularly vulnerable to poverty and hunger, adding that the people of Pakistan and the United States shared many common values, which was a recognition of the fact that those having resources should help the haves not.
