Since the onset of winter, the provincial capital has witnessed misty conditions. Early Tuesday morning visibility in the city was especially reduced. The foggy conditions seen late at night and early in the morning took citizens by surprise, as since the past few years, fog has been a phenomenon associated with mid-December. The minimum temperature recorded in the country was minus three degree Celsius in Sakurdu. There is no forecast of precipitation in the cultivating areas of the country. The meteorological department reported that during the next two days dry weather was expected in most parts of the country, with chances of isolated light rain in Malakand, Hazara divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and the adjoining hilly areas. Foggy conditions are most likely to prevail in the planes of Punjab late at night and early in the morning. Chief Meteorologist Riaz Khan said the dry weather prevailing in most parts of the country had caused dust-particle levels in the air to increase, limiting visibility. He said except in the far-north of the country, all other parts would face similar conditions of dryness for some days. The Motorways and National Highways, however, were clear from fog and visibility was enough for the flow of traffic to continue, he said.
