Abductors rape, kill 5th-grade student

The body of a young girl, who had been kidnapped on Monday for ransom, was found on Tuesday, wrapped in a piece of cloth, from Hanjarwal police precincts. Police said Bisma, a school-going girl and the youngest daughter of Murad Ali, a rickshaw driver of Nawakot, was abducted by some unidentified men. Police suspected the culprits raped and killed the girl after her father had failed to pay them the ransom money. The investigation officer (IO) told this scribe that the girl was a fifth-grade student at a local school. He said the girl went missing since she had left for school on Monday morning. Worried, Murad Ali went to school to ask the administration about the whereabouts of his missing daughter. He was told she had not showed up at school that day.
Panicked, Murad Ali informed the police that his daughter was missing. He was told to check with his relatives in case she might be with them. The helpless father kept looking for her the whole day on Monday. Murad told Pakistan Today that it was Monday evening, when he received a call from the abductors who were demanding Rs 0.3 million as ransom for the girl’s safe return. He said he could only arrange Rs 50,000 and he took the money to a place near a public park in Sabzazar Colony, as demanded by the abductors. He said that after leaving the money there he returned to his home. After some, he said, he repeatedly tried to contact the abductors but to no avail.
“The next day (on Tuesday), I heard about announcements being made from local mosques about the body of an unidentified girl found by the residents. It was at the Hanjarwal police station where I finally saw the body of my daughter,” he said, while choking back his tears. The police send the body for an autopsy and started the investigation.
