Three Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan personnel and two tribesmen of the Bugti peace force were reportedly killed and nine others were injured in a bomb attack in Dera Bugti on Tuesday, while the Chinese engineers were unhurt.
FC Spokesman Murtaza Baig, however, categorically denied the reports and said no such attack had taken place, while the district administration said one of the FC’s vehicles had hit a landmine but caused no loss of life or injuries, only minor damages to the vehicle.
According to local sources, Chinese engineers of BJP working on the Pat Feeder Canal were going for a survey under heavy protection of dozens of FC personnel and armed tribesmen of the Bugti peace force loyal to the government when a roadside bomb was detonated by remote-control in the Gopat area. As a result, the sources claimed, three FC personnel and two tribesmen were killed while nine others were wounded.
