The number of smoke emitting vehicles on the roads is increasing day by day but the traffic department seems ignorant of the problem. In the past, vehicles were checked annually for their fitness and the vehicles not coming to the standard were not given fitness certificate and they could not run on the roads. It is said that monthlies are being paid regularly to the traffic police by the owners of these vehicles. In return, they can do what they like on the roads.
The smoke emitting vehicles are a great source of pollution and a great hazard to peoples’ health. The traffic authorities should look into the matter and try to remedy the situation.
