Health commission bill for patients’ rights drafted

A health commission bill regarding patients’ rights has been drafted and incidents of negligence would be dealt with lawfully, said Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Karachi President Prof Dr Idrees Adhi on Monday. Adhi said, “The bill at present is with Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed who would present it in the ongoing session of the provincial assembly so that the Health Commission Bill Act could be formulated.”
He said this draft has been agreed upon by the PMA, Pakistan Islamic Medical Association, Medical Aid Committee, and Private Clinics and Hospitals Association under the leadership of Dr Muhammad Ali Shah, and sister organisations Pakistan Paediatric Association, Society of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists of Pakistan, Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan, Pakistan Orthopaedic Association, Pakistan Society of Anaesthesiology, and Association of Pakistani Physicians and Surgeons.
