With a drop in night-time temperature by 2 to 3 degree Celsius, winter has arrived in lower Sindh, including Karachi, said a Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) advisory issued Monday evening. Besides the lower Sindh region, the advisory added, night-time temperature has also fallen along the Makran coast of Balochistan, so winter has arrived in that region as well. Compared to lower Sindh areas and the Makran coast, the day-time temperature at a few places in upper Sindh and at an isolated place in northwest Balochistan is still 2 degree Celsius higher, said the PMD. Previously, the PMD-Sindh predicted that the winter season would be severely cold and longer this year.
The advisory said there is no chance of early winter rains in the region and the weather in Karachi, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur and Larkana divisions would remain dry for the next few days. Most parts of Balochistan, including Makran, Zhob, Sibi, Nasirabad, Kalat and Quetta regions, would remain dry with cold nights, the advisory added.
