NOTICE ISSUED TO UHS NOTICE ON UNRECOGNISED MEDICAL COLLEGES: The Lahore High Court on Monday issued notice to University of Health Sciences (UHS) on a civil miscellaneous application filed in a main petition pending against four unrecognised medical colleges in the province. The notice was issued by LHC Chief Justice Azmat Saeed for December 9 on the application of petitioner-counsel Noshab A Khan, seeking the court’s permission to make UHS a respondent party in the pending petition. The counsel submitted that UHS had dropped the names of 400 candidates from the merit list for admission to government institutions for the 2011-2012 session, as the medical colleges set up in Sialkot, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and DG Khan had yet to be recognised by the Pakistan medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
The petitioner submitted in his petition that the Punjab government had inaugurated four medical colleges, without the PMDC’s validation of Medical Qualifications. The CJ after hearing the arguments issued notice to UHS for December 9 and also issued notice to the Punjab government and others on the main petition.
