Leading entrepreneurs of China were invited to invest in Sindh’s building infrastructure by Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro while addressing a reception hosted by the China Construction Third Engineering Bureau (CCTEB) on Saturday.
CCTEB is the largest construction company of China with business of over $50 billion last year. In Pakistan alone, they have completed many projects; and at present, various mega projects, like the run-of-the-river Hydel Power Project in Punjab and the Benazir International Airport Islamabad, are being carried out by CCTEB.
During the reception on Saturday, Khuhro apprised the Chinese organisation’s senior management of details regarding shovel-ready projects that the provincial government is ready to offer under the umbrella of Public-Private Partnership Unit (PPPU).
PPPU Sindh Director General Suhail Rajput said, “We have already invited Expressions of Interest for projects like the Hyderabad-Badin Dual Carriageway Road, the bridge over River Indus near Tando Muhammad Khan and the Keenjhar Lake Resort.”
Sindh Investment Board Secretary Younus Dagha briefed the gathering about the avenues available in constructing infrastructure in the Thar coalfields area where the provincial government plans to construct roads and railways network as well as an airport.
Sindh Investment Board Chairman Zubair Motiwala said, “We shall make the working environment conducive for all foreign investments coming in Sindh. Karachi, the biggest city of Pakistan, needs mass transport system, extension of circular railways, bus terminals and solid waste management system.”
The CCTEB general manager ensured the delegation that the Chinese company would look into the list of the projects in detail and would come to Pakistan with some concrete proposals soon.
