‘Faiz Chair’ to be set up at KU, SU

A ‘Faiz Chair’ will be set up at University of Karachi (KU) and University of Sindh (SU), where research work will be conducted on literary services of Faiz Ahmed Faiz, announced Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah while delivering the presidential address at the opening session of Faiz Centenary Celebrations at the Chief Minister’s House on Friday.
“The renowned poet, writer and intellectual [Faiz] was a great personality, who struggled throughout his life for the rights of people, particularly the poor and the working class, and also for human rights,” Shah said. “The Sindh government will always encourage healthy cultural and literary activities. The views and vision of Faiz will be properly highlighted and research will be conducted on various aspects of Faiz’s works and the provincial government will support it.”
“Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had similar ideas and associated with Faiz in various programmes,” he said, adding that Pakistan People’s Party has also struggled and made sacrifices for the rights of the masses and also for the restoration of democratic rights.
