President Lahore City Cricket Association Khawaja Nadeem Ahmad has termed the boycott of Lahore City Cricket league by some clubs an effort to sabotage the event and to further ruin club cricket. In a statement here on Wednesday, he said some of the clubs from affiliated units have decided not to take part in the league and their refusal is a clear indication that ‘some vested interests’ do not want to see cricket flourishing. “Their boycott will not serve any purpose but will harm the interest of cricket specially at grass root level which is club cricket and we will take every measure to stop such happening,” he said when his attention was drawn to the boycott by some teams. Nadeem said the league was launched after month’s long efforts to attain the specific target of revival of club cricket by engaging clubs in a long term cricket activity. Nadeem said the club cricket has already reached to brink of disaster due to such negative tactics and the boycott of the league will pose a question mark on the future of club cricket in Lahore. “ I don’t understand why they have decided to stay away from the league and I would ask them to come and tell me their views,” he said. “I would call it a conspiracy against cricket as some quarters are not happy with the launch of league,” he added.
